Description: The Statewide Waters to Wells (W2W) dataset was developed through collaboration between Dr. Syed, Dr. Tintor, and the IT Systems Bureau GIS Section to improve and expand the original W2W program. The workflow was redesigned to operate on a statewide PostgreSQL dataset structured to mimic NMWRRS while consolidating well construction, depth, drill date, and ownership information that had previously been distributed across multiple data sources.
The W2W process now runs automatically on a monthly basis (first Wednesday of each month), producing a GIS geodatabase stored on the EGIS server with preserved version history. Each run includes all wells and associated water rights statewide and adds enhanced attributes such as perforation intervals, POD record numbers, links to FEITH scanned well logs, links to online meter records, and additional hydrologically relevant variables (e.g., static water level, source aquifer, POD status, and water right status).
This statewide implementation provides a consistent, centralized, and continually updated database for Hydrology Bureau staff, supports identification and correction of data issues over time, and preserves historical records of wells, PODs, and water rights as they change.
